Latest BOB chain updates

A developer's guide to recent changes on the BOB chain.
A few things have shifted on BOB chain infrastructure over the past months. Some of these are worth actioning if you're building on BOB - particularly the oracle migration. Others are just useful to know. This post covers what changed, what's coming, and what (if anything) you need to do.
Chainlink is the main oracle on BOB
Chainlink is now the primary oracle provider for projects building on BOB. If your protocol currently uses a different oracle for price feeds, this is the time to plan your migration.
This is relevant for any lending protocol, CDP or price-sensitive application deployed on BOB. If your project is looking at deploying to BOB and needs a feed that isn't live yet, contact us and we can work with Chainlink to get it added.
Why Chainlink: most DeFi protocols already integrate Chainlink as a standard. It's the oracle provider on most major L2s, which reduces integration friction for teams coming to BOB from other chains.
New BOB explorer is live
In August, Conduit replaced the Blockscout deployment for BOB with a new explorer interface. It s the same explorer used by other Conduit-hosted chains, and closely follows the design of the Tempo explorer.
The OKX Explorer is also available as an alternative option.
wBTC and the LayerZero to CCIP migration
BitGo recently announced that wBTC will be migrating from LayerZero to Chainlink CCIP. This is relevant for BOB because wBTC is one of the most actively used assets on the chain.
BOB already has Chainlink CCIP deployed. BitGo controls the wBTC contract - and the update happens on their side. We're in touch with the BitGo, LayerZero and Chainlink teams to confirm timelines, and expect that holders will not need to take any action.
BOB Sequencer: Kailua transition
On September 30, Boundless is deprecating Kailua as part of their pivot into AI. Kailua is the ZK fraud proof system BOB has run in production since July 2025, when we launched as the first chain to use it.
As an interim measure, on September 16, BOB is moving to a shared sequencer configuration with Conduit, who also provide sequencer infrastructure for many major chains, including Polygon and Ethena. No action is required from users or protocols. Withdrawals via the native Ethereum bridge will now be completed within 24 hours.
We're actively evaluating replacement proving options, including merge mining with Bitcoin, since the BOB dev team has previously worked on a novel merged mining protocol. This would make BOB directly inherit security from Bitcoin's hashrate - something we think is the right long-term direction. We'll announce a path forward when the details are confirmed.
MetaMask support
Worth flagging for any teams onboarding users: BOB is fully supported in MetaMask. Users can add BOB as a network and interact with any dapp on BOB through the standard MetaMask interface. If your integration docs reference supported wallets, BOB + MetaMask works out of the box.
RPC endpoints
If you're building on BOB and need a reliable RPC endpoint, the recommended providers for BOB mainnet are Conduit, Tenderly, and dRPC. All three are production-ready and listed with endpoints and documentation in the BOB developer docs.
