ShapeShift Integrates BOB Gateway

ShapeShift has been around since 2014. Founded by Erik Voorhees, it was one of the first platforms to let users swap crypto without handing over custody of their funds. In 2021, ShapeShift did something most companies talk about but never do - it dissolved its corporate structure entirely and became a DAO, governed by FOX token holders. No company, no KYC, no accounts.

Today, ShapeShift aggregates swaps across 46 chains and 17 swap engines, including THORChain, Chainflip, Relay and more. BOB Gateway is now also included.

Partners in self-custody

ShapeShift's users are exactly the audience that cares about Bitcoin done right: self-custody and no intermediaries. Adding BOB Gateway to ShapeShift puts native BTC routes in front of users who chose this platform because it aligns with what Bitcoin was built for.

When a ShapeShift user swaps Bitcoin, the platform evaluates available routes and picks the best execution. BOB Gateway now competes in that lineup. When it wins on rate - the transaction flows through Gateway.

Supported assets on launch: BTC <-> wBTC, USDT, USDC, ETH, XAUT. More chains and assets coming.

Open source, open access

ShapeShift is fully open source. Developers can plug directly into the ShapeShift API that allows them to access the bridge aggregation system. BOB Gateway's BTC routes are now part of that open infrastructure, accessible to anyone integrating ShapeShift, not just users of the app.

Part of a bigger picture

BOB is building the Bank of Bitcoin - a platform for swapping, saving, earning and borrowing, all on Bitcoin rails. BOB Gateway is the distribution layer: an API that brings native BTC routes to the protocols, wallets and infrastructure where users already are.
