Action required: wBTC migration

wBTC is changing its cross-chain standard. Here's what that means for wBTC.OFT holders on the BOB chain.
BitGo is changing the cross-chain interoperability mechanism for wBTC from LayerZero to Chainlink CCIP. As part of this transition, The LayerZero endpoint on the BOB chain will be closed down on 31 October 2026. After this date, wBTC.OFT will no longer be able to leave BOB.
The migration can not be done automatically and requires user action.
What's happening
Currently, there are two versions of wBTC live on the BOB chain: wBTC.OFT(powered by LayerZero) and bridged wBTC (via the native BOB L2<>Ethereum bridge).
When LayerZero shuts down the endpoint on 31 October, the wBTC.OFT version loses the ability to be bridged out of BOB. It doesn't disappear, but it can't move - which means you can't exit to Ethereum or use it anywhere else.
Chainlink CCIP is BitGo's chosen replacement standard for wBTC crosschain transfers. BOB already has CCIP deployed and we're aligned with this direction. However, the CCIP wBTC migration timeline has not yet been confirmed, plus a CCIP deployment means a new token contract - so even once wBTC is live on CCIP, there's no automatic conversion.
The safest action right now is therefore to migrate from wBTC.OFT to the native wBTC version by withdrawing to Ethereum and re-depositing assets to BOB.
Who is affected
If you hold wBTC.OFT directly in your wallet or deposited in any protocol on BOB - including River, Oku, or Solv - you need to take action before October 31, 2026.
What to do
Step 1: Exit any protocol positions - If your wBTC.OFT is deposited in a lending protocol or yield strategy, withdraw it first. You need the wBTC.OFT in your wallet before you can bridge it out. You can check which version of wBTC you are holding in the Gateway app in the wallet sidebar.

Step 2: Withdraw to Ethereum via BOB Gateway - Go to app.gobob.xyz/bridge, select wBTC(powered by L0) in your wallet, and bridge from BOB to Ethereum. This moves your wBTC.OFT off the BOB chain and you receive the canonical version of it on Ethereum.

Step 3: Bridge back to BOB - Once your wBTC is on Ethereum, you can bridge it back to BOB. When you re-deposit via the standard bridge, you’ll receive bridged wBTC on BOB - not the OFT version.
Deadline: 31 October 2026
After this date, wBTC.OFT can no longer be bridged out of BOB. If you have any questions, please reach out in the BOB Discord.
