BOB Gateway is the gateway to Bitcoin DeFi

Native BTC, BTC wrappers and stablecoins now sit one transaction apart. BOB Gateway gets you from one to the other without a bridge, a CEX or giving up custody.
Bitcoin DeFi has a routing problem. Your BTC is on Bitcoin. The yield is on Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum and BSC, and each of those chains has its own idea of what "Bitcoin" is: WBTC, cbBTC, tBTC, LBTC, SolvBTC, BTCB. The stablecoin you want to borrow or take profit into lives on yet another chain. Getting from where your Bitcoin is to where you want it to be has meant a bridge, a wrap, a swap and also trust in whoever sits in the middle.
BOB Gateway now covers that whole map. We recently enabled a full set of wrapped BTC routes, and the result is simple to state: you can move between native BTC, any major wrapper and the stablecoins you actually use, from one interface and one transaction. That is what we mean when we say BOB is the gateway to Bitcoin DeFi.
More than 450 routes
BOB Gateway's live route list currently spans 13 chains and more than 450 individual routes. The ones that matter for Bitcoin DeFi fall into three groups.
Native BTC to wrapped BTC, and back. Send one Bitcoin transaction and receive the wrapper you need, on the chain you need it:
- WBTC on Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, BSC, Avalanche and Unichain
- cbBTC on Ethereum, Arbitrum and Base
- tBTC on Ethereum, Arbitrum and Base
- LBTC on Ethereum
- SolvBTC on Ethereum and Avalanche
- BTCB on BSC
Every one of these routes runs in both directions. When you are done with a position, the same wrapper swaps back to native BTC delivered to any Bitcoin address.
Wrapped BTC to wrapped BTC, across chains. Already holding WBTC on Ethereum but the opportunity is in cbBTC on Base, or tBTC on Arbitrum? BOB Gateway swaps directly between wrappers, same chain or cross-chain, without routing through a bridge yourself. This is the piece that was missing: wrappers used to be islands, and moving between them meant unwrapping to BTC and wrapping again.
Native BTC to stablecoins, and back. The route most people use most. Swap BTC into USDT, USDC, USDT0, USD1, RLUSD, PYUSD, DAI, JPYC, USDG or EURC on Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, BSC, Avalanche, HyperEVM or Tron, and swap any of them back into native BTC. Tokenised gold (XAUt and PAXG) is on the list too.
Put the three groups together and you have the full loop of Bitcoin DeFi: Bitcoin in, position on, stablecoins or Bitcoin out. All from a single place.
Why wrappers matter
Wrapped BTC is where Bitcoin DeFi actually happens. Lending markets, liquidity pools, vaults and restaking protocols all take a wrapper, not native BTC, because they live on EVM chains. Each wrapper also comes with its own trust model and its own ecosystem: cbBTC is Coinbase-custodied and dominant on Base, tBTC is threshold-signed and decentralised, LBTC and SolvBTC carry staking yield, WBTC is the oldest and most widely integrated. If you want to learn more about different BTC wrappers, read our guide.
Until now, choosing a wrapper meant committing to its chain, its bridge and its unwrap process. With BOB Gateway, the choice is reversible. You can hold native BTC by default, move into whichever wrapper the opportunity calls for, and move out again, or sideways into a different wrapper, when the opportunity changes.
What makes BOB Gateway different
Non-custodial, by design. BOB Gateway is an intents-based swap protocol. A solver locks the output asset in a smart contract before you send anything. You then sign a single Bitcoin or EVM transaction, and the swap settles atomically. Neither BOB nor the solver can take your Bitcoin without delivering what you were quoted. There is no deposit into a bridge contract, no wrapped IOU, no waiting on a custodian.
One transaction. Native BTC to cbBTC on Base is one Bitcoin transaction. cbBTC on Base to native BTC is one EVM transaction. BOB Gateway handles the routing, the cross-chain execution and the destination gas. You do not need ETH on Base, or BNB on BSC, to receive your tokens there.
Quote-first pricing. Every fee is computed per swap and returned in full before you sign. Independent solvers compete to fill your order against live market rates, and BOB Gateway picks the best quote. Gas on the destination chain is estimated upfront and included in the quote, so what you see is the whole cost.
Fixed rate on BTC to USDT. On our most used route, native BTC to USDT on Ethereum, the quote is now a fixed rate: the number you see in the app is the number that lands in your wallet, with zero slippage. It is running as a pilot, and we plan to extend it to other stablecoin and wrapped BTC routes based on user feedback.
Built for native BTC. Most swap venues treat Bitcoin as an afterthought bolted onto an EVM router. BOB Gateway was built from the Bitcoin side first. It reads Bitcoin transactions directly, lets you send from any Bitcoin wallet or straight to a deposit address, and delivers native BTC to any Bitcoin address on the way out.
Same guarantees through the API. Everything above is available to integrators via a single SDK or API. Call getRoutes for the live list, getQuote for a signed price, and your users get native BTC swaps inside your product with no custody on your side either. Check the docs to learn more.
How to use it
Go to BOB Gateway, pick your input and output, and sign one transaction. For native BTC in, you can connect a Bitcoin wallet or simply send to the deposit address shown. For wrappers or stablecoins in, connect an EVM wallet. Swaps typically settle in 5 to 10 minutes.
Routes are being added continuously. If the pair you need is not listed yet, it is probably on the way.
The gateway to Bitcoin DeFi
The point of all this is not the route count. It is that a Bitcoin holder no longer has to choose between holding BTC and using it. Native BTC, every major wrapper and the stablecoins you earn or spend in are now reachable from one another, in one transaction, without trusting an intermediary with your coins.
Bitcoin in. DeFi on. Bitcoin out. That is the gateway.
