What is BOB Gateway?

BOB Gateway is an intents-based API/SDK for Bitcoin interoperability. It’s a powerful toolkit that enables developers and platforms to offer their users 1-click Bitcoin flows for swaps, DeFi deployment, and bridging.

Simpler integration and easier maintenance

The BOB Gateway API refactor incorporates feedback from early integrators and users. The API has been rebuilt and the integration flow simplified, significantly reducing long-term maintenance overhead. As a result, BOB Gateway is now better prepared for higher-volume, production-grade use.

As part of the refactor, complex SDK logic has been consolidated into the API, which now uses OpenAPI for easier and faster integrations. The new architecture also lays the foundation for broader cross-chain support beyond EVM ecosystems.

Dependency on OP_RETURN has been removed, further simplifying Bitcoin transactions, reducing constraints at the protocol level, and improving reliability. This also unlocks new flows, including the ability to send BTC directly from centralized exchanges or hardware wallets (e.g. Ledger, Trezor or OneKey), without requiring users to connect a Bitcoin wallet.

Straight from CEX to DeFi

By supporting CEX and hardware-wallet-native flows, we now allow partners to offer an experience that bridges the gap between centralized liquidity and onchain yield.

  • CEX-to-DeFi: Users can send BTC directly from an exchange like Binance or Coinbase into an onchain DeFi position.
  • DeFi-to-CEX: Users can exit positions and receive native BTC or wBTC directly back to their exchange account.
  • Zero Connection Friction: Enable on- and off-ramps without requiring users to set up complex intermediary wallets or manage UTXOs.

For platforms, this means tapping into the world’s deepest Bitcoin liquidity pools without building custom custody logic.

For integrators

BOB Gateway now follows an API-first design that will reduce breaking changes and lower long-term maintenance. The API alone is enough to access all supported routes, while the SDK enables more advanced use cases and deeper product integration. A new simulation environment also makes it easier to test and validate integrations before going live.

For end users

Through partner platforms, BOB Gateway now supports CEX-friendly flows without requiring a BTC wallet connection. 

Users can:

  • Send BTC directly from a CEX (on-ramp)
  • Receive BTC directly to a CEX (off-ramp)
  • Receive wBTC to a CEX (on-ramp)

These exchange-native Bitcoin flows are something most existing bridges and interoperability solutions cannot support cleanly today.
