BOB has launched Bitcoin swaps as part of its Gateway product. The initial release supports USDC, USDT, and ETH on Ethereum and Base, with additional chains and assets rolling out in the coming weeks. The ultimate goal is to allow users to trade Bitcoin against any asset on any chain.

Why Bitcoin Needs Native DeFi Swaps

CEXes remain the primary way to swap BTC for other assets - but they are centralized, often lack proof of reserves, and introduce custody risk.

At the same time, existing onchain alternatives often require wrapping BTC or navigating complex, multi-step flows. This exposes users to long-term wrapper and bridge risk and degrades the overall experience.

Introducing Bitcoin Swaps via BOB Gateway

BOB Gateway is an intents-based Bitcoin interoperability protocol, designed to support frictionless movement of Bitcoin into multichain DeFi. 

So far, BOB Gateway supported 1-click Bitcoin DeFi on- and off-ramps across 11 chains in partnership with LayerZero and BitGo's wBTC - already processing over 68k transactions from 30k users. 

Now we are launching BTC swaps. We’re starting with USDC, USDT and ETH on Ethereum and Base, more routes and chains will be added over the coming days and weeks.

Referral Program: Earn up to 20% of fees in BTC

Alongside Bitcoin Swaps, BOB is launching a BOB Gateway Referral Program.

Open to users, creators, and communities, the program rewards participants with 20% of protocol fees in BTC, generated by their referrals’ ongoing activity. 

Unlike one-time bonus campaigns, this revenue-share model compounds over time: the more active your referrals, the more wBTC you earn.

The referral program launches on December 19 and will run for an initial six months, with the potential to extend.
