BOB Mainnet's next upgrade is set for March 12: the Jovian Hardfork, part of OP Stack's Upgrade 17.

What's changing

This upgrade brings a few meaningful improvements under the hood:

  • Cannon Go 1.24 support - updates the onchain fault proof VM to support Go 1.24
  • Configurable Minimum Base Fee - lets chain operators set a minimum base fee to reduce priority fee auctions (disabled by default)
  • DA Footprint Block Limit - adds an in-protocol cap on estimated DA usage to prevent spam (enabled by default, can be disabled via zero scalar onchain) Please refer to the Upgrade 17 Notice for a full changelog.

When?

March 12, 2026 at 14:30:01 UTC (scheduled maintenance)

What this means for you

For end-users and node operators: nothing changes in day-to-day experience. This is a backend infrastructure upgrade.

For external node operators: you need to make sure your infrastructure is updated before March 12. Nodes that are not configured correctly will stop syncing after activation.

Checklist for node operators

If you run an external node, you need to:

Update op-node to >= v1.16.5 (latest/recommended is v1.16.6)

Update op-geth to >= v1.101605.0 (latest/recommended is v1.101609.0)

Mainnet:

op-node: --override.jovian=1773325801

op-geth: --override.jovian=1773325801
